Help us grow Barrington Indivisible
Date: Thursday, December 4 | 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Location: Barrington Area Library
You’re invited to Indivisible Barrington’s One Million Rising, a community gathering for honest conversation and action. Together, we’ll talk about what’s happening in our country, the rising threats to democracy and the push toward authoritarianism, and, more importantly, explore how peaceful noncompliance and local action can make a real difference. We’ll also brainstorm practical, peaceful steps each of us can take to push back and protect our democracy.
The Barrington Area Library provides Meeting Room space as a community service. The Barrington Area Library neither sponsors nor endorses this event nor the presenting individuals or organizations.
Date: Wed, December 10 | 10 am - 12 pm
Location: Pepper Park Coffee
Grab some cocoa and let’s get creative!
Join our poster-making party for the Carols, Community & Cocoa rally. Make a sign for yourself and one to share. Let’s fill our gathering with color, joy, and impactful messages! All supplies (and plenty of inspiration!) provided.
Donations for materials are welcome.
Date: Saturday, December 13 |10:30 - 11:30 am - Barrington Village Gazebo
11:30 - 12:30 pm - Conscious Cup Barrington
Join us for carols, community, and cocoa as we come together to support our neighbors. This festive rally is our chance to highlight the positive things Indivisible Barrington stands for—showing up for our community with uplifting signs, joyful carols, and a spirit of generosity at the Village Gazebo.
Afterward, at 11:30, we’ll stroll over to Conscious Cup for hot cocoa and connection. Bring the kids—everyone is welcome! We’ll be collecting donations for BACOA to help local seniors who could use a little extra care this season. BACOA has requested only donations of gift cards to Jewel, Walmart, and similar stores. There should be plenty of parking available on the streets, in the surrounding neighborhood, and across Hough St. in the Jewel parking lot.

Spotify is running ads recruiting agents for ICE -- the federal agency charged with mass deportation and ripping apart immigrant communities. These ads target vulnerable populations and recruit people by promising signing bonuses. Over the past year, ICE has normalized fear and intimidation in our neighborhoods. That's why we launched a new campaign to hold Spotify accountable.
To make matters worse, Spotify acknowledged the ads, and they claim the ads comply with their policy. We don't think we should support a service that doesn't think streaming government propaganda and hate-based recruitment campaigns should violate their policies.
What you can do:
Go to spotify.com/account and log in.
Click “Cancel Premium” (or “Cancel Subscription”).
We encourage you to leave a note explaining your cancellation. You can write something like, “Canceling until Spotify terminates ICE ads.”
Follow the prompts to confirm cancellation. Your Premium benefits will continue until the end of your billing period, then your account will revert to the free plan.
Don't use Spotify? Help us spread the word on social media so that those who DO can cancel their subscription.
And, we even have tips on alternative streaming platforms you can use, plus instructions for how to move your playlists to those streaming services. For more tips on how to participate in this important campaign, go ahead and check out our Cancel Spotify page.
